Patients have an opportunity to stay in the apartments, supervised by our clinic. Apartments are located in the centre of Kaunas and most importantly, right next to our new clinic, in the same building (1 min by foot) and are provided with additional medical care (the nurse visits a patient at least once a day after discharge from the clinic), which is not possible while staying in a hotel or other accommodation.

All inclusive price, which is twice lower than in Western European clinics. Our clinic works with medical professionals of the highest education and experience level and uses the same materials as the clinics in Western Europe. More often than not, the quality of our clinic‘s facilities exceed the ones in Western European clinics. The price difference is only due to considerably lower average salaries and taxes – which is the main reason for medical travel everywhere around the world.

Mommy makeover

What is a Mommy makeover?
Although motherhood is a truly beautiful experience, a woman’s body has to change dramatically to accommodate and feed the baby. In many cases, these changes are too severe to be reverted with the help of diet and exercise. Since various body parts are usually affected, you might want to have all of them altered surgically.

How your body changes during pregnancy

In pregnancy your body is preparing to carry, protect, deliver and feed the baby. Many complicated physiological mechanisms affect your organs and tissues. As a result, your body shapes change.

Breasts. Hormones increase breasts blood supply and development of glandular tissue. As a result, your breasts become bigger and firmer. That’s how your body prepares to feed the baby. After you wean your baby, the breasts start to return to previous appearance. However, in most cases breasts skin becomes stretched and the bust becomes saggy.

Abdominal muscles. In order to provide the baby with enough of space, your abdomen expands. Hormonal changes of the connective tissue, mechanical pressure of the abdominal wall and displacement of the inner organs result in condition called diastasis recti or separated abdominal muscles. In other words, the space between your right and left abdominal muscles become wider. It sometimes remains after delivery and causes belly bulge.

Skin. Your whole body is changing during pregnancy and the skin is not an exception. Stretch marks, varicose veins, hyperpigmentation or acne might develope. Moreover, your skin has to expand a lot because your belly is growing fast. After delivery your waistline shrinks rapidly. As a result, the skin in this area becomes loose and saggy. Other parts of your body can also be affected if you lose weight rapidly.

What is included in mommy makeover?

The mommy makeover usually includes breast augmentation and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). However it can also include liposuction or intimate surgery, if you require. Mommy makeover selection is very individual and varies from patient to patient. Here are some procedures that you can mix and combine according to your desired results:

  • Breast lift improves the appearance of saggy breasts. Position of nipples and size of areolas can also be adjusted during this procedure.
  • Breast augmentation enables to increase the size of the breasts with the help of breast implants.
  • Liposuction helps to get rid of stubborn fat deposits in various areas of your body. There are two methods – wet and laser liposuction.
  • Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is designed to remove excessive skin and thighten muscles in an abdominal area. Depending on the size of the problematic area, your surgeon may recommend you full or mini tummy tuck.
  • Arm or thigh lift. In this surgery hanging skin and fat tissue are removed from your upper ams or thighs.
  • Intimate surgery includes vaginal rejuvenation, labia or clitoris correction.

Is mommy makeover safe?

Since it is a combined surgical procedure, you might be wondering about its safety. Like any surgery, the mommy makeover carries some risk which is slightly higher than doing the same procedures (tummy tuck, breast enhancement, etc.) separately. It is mostly related to a longer duration of anaesthesia. However, with the competence of our staff and your cooperation, the risk can be minimized and the mommy makeover can be considered safe. Nonetheless, for your own comfort, it is recommended to have a suitable health insurance.

Preparation for a mommy makeover

The preparation process starts way before the surgical procedure. However, you should not consider this to be a problem since it is advised to wait around a year after giving birth before having a mommy makeover.

You will have a consultation with your surgeon and it is recommended to consult your GP too. You should feel comfortable asking questions and sharing any health-related concerns you might have. Be prepared to answer questions about any chronic diseases, recent illnesses and health conditions that might run in your family. You should also mention all medications, supplements and drugs you are taking since some of them might need to be discontinued (for example, you may be asked to stop taking contraceptive pills and other hormonal medications in order to avoid serious complications).

If you are a smoker, you will be asked to stop smoking 6 to 8 weeks prior to the surgery. This is because smoking is known to strongly interfere with blood circulation which may cause complications during the surgery and afterwards. Since smoking reduces blood flow to your skin and other organs, it can prolong wound healing and overall recovery.

You should feel comfortable and confident about your current weight because it is not going to change drastically after the surgery. A tummy tuck is not meant to be a weight reducing surgery, therefore your BMI (body mass index) should be around 27 or less. It is best to practice a healthy lifestyle for at least a year prior to the procedure so that the surgeon could take care of imperfections that can not be fixed by exercising and having a proper diet.

If you are having a breast enhancement (augmentation and/or lift), you will be advised to plan your surgery about six months after you stop breastfeeding. This period of time is necessary for your breasts to recover from hormonal changes so that their actual shape and size can be seen, making it easier to plan the surgery.

Final results and scarring

Usually, the patient has to wait at least 6 months for the final result to be seen while scars may become less visible 2 years following surgery. Scarring is natural and inevitable after having a surgical incision. However, your surgeon will make sure to make the scars as little visible as possible. Usually, the incisions are made in a skin folds and can be easily hidden by underwear. Furthermore, you can apply a special scar treating ointment to your scars regularly when your wounds are properly healed. The individual scarring process depends on your body and how well you follow postoperative instructions.

Why choose a mommy makeover?

As mentioned previously, the mommy makeover has a slightly higher risk of complications. However, many patients prefer to take the risk instead of having multiple procedures and several recovery periods. Nonetheless, you will see the final results much quicker and enjoy your new body all at once. Last but not least, it is cheaper to combine several procedures than to pay for each intervention seperately.
The mommy makeover is a great option for all women, who might feel uncomfortable with excess skin, sagging breasts and other imperfections seen after pregnancy. It is a safe, convenient and relatively cheap way to regain self-confidence. Your individual preparation plan will be discussed and all questions will be answered during a consultation with your surgeon.
